This character was designed to be used as a NPC of some significance to the story in a fictional first person perspective game. The primary source of inspiration for this character was the style of the Dishonored game series by Arkane Studios.
I wanted her to feel native to the grim and gritty harbors of a large industrial city. A veteran of the royal fleet, betrayed by her own government and turned criminal when she refused to abide by the rules of a corrupt leader.
High poly was made in ZBrush, Low Poly in Maya, Baking in Marmoset Toolbag 4, Textures in Substance Painter and Presentation in Marmoset Toolbag 4.
As for the hair I studied some of the techniques used on characters in Dishonored 2, where most of the hair is a sculpted mesh enhanced by strands of hair cards. The roots of the hair was masked with an opacity map to get a more pleasant transition between the hair and the scalp.
